Tanzania is very rich in wetland resources which include the Great Lake systems, major rivernetworks and deltaic mangroves. The major lakes and floodplains have long provided afertile resource base as they include alluvial plains of great agricultural potential. Wetlands in Tanzania support an extensive trading and transport system, fishing grounds,agro-pastoral activities, hydrological processes and, more recently, the harnessing of the riverflows for irrigation and hydroelectric power. |

In the Pantanal, the largest continuous floodplain in the world, the diversity and distribution of anuran amphibians vary in and across distinct subregions and distinct habitats occurring along inundation gradients. Permanent and natural aquatic habitats are relatively scarce in the Pantanal, and occurrence of temporary aquatic habitats varies seasonally, depending on rains. The assemblage of arthropods and helminths, present in sigmodontine rodents (Cricetidae) from a broad wetland area of the Río de la Plata, Argentina, was studied. A total of 250 sigmodontines were captured during a two-year sampling period: Scapteromys aquaticus and Oxymycterus rufus were the most abundant hosts, followed by Oligoryzomys nigripes, Akodon azarae, Oligoryzomys flavescens, and Deltamys kempi. Se estudió la biodiversidad vegetal acuática y palustre de la Laguna Coluco que forma parte de los Humedales del río Chepu (Chiloé, Chile). La hoya hidrográfica del río Chepu comprende la laguna Coluco y los tributarios de la cuenca: ríos Huentru, Negro, Puntra, Grande, Coluco, abarcando aproximadamente 100 km^2. Los muestreos de terreno se realizaron con la metodología fitosociológica de la Escuela Zürich – Montpellier. Con los censos de vegetación levantados a lo largo del transecto, se confeccionó una tabla fitosociológica inicial con 120 censos y 88 especies vegetales. ABSTRACT Currently, it is widely recognized that invertebrates play key roles in neotropical floodplains and in many other environments worldwide. However, little information has been published concerning their biometry, in spite that it represents an essential tool for many different studies. Here, we provided length-mass and length-length relationships by fitting the linearized model (log10 Y = log10a + b log10 X) and several mean biomass ratios ± SE for bivalves, gastropods, quironomids, ephemeropterans, oligochaetes and hirudineans. We measured, weighed, oven dried and incinerated to ashes specimens collected from 2005 to 2014 in the Paraná River, Argentina. Climate change and its interactions with complex socioeconomic dynamics dictate the need for decision makers to move from incremental adaptation toward transformation as societies try to cope with unprecedented and uncertain change. Developing pathways toward transformation is especially difficult in regions with multiple contested resource uses and rights, with diverse decision makers and rules, and where high uncertainty is generated by differences in stakeholders’ values, understanding of climate change, and ways of adapting.
